ARTIST COMEDIAN NATURALIST
Jack O’Donnell is what used to be called one of our “Hot Young Turks.” He was here a week and we had 2 rave reviews from clients! That was both surprising and a record. He joined us through a local pet store after going into art professionally and finding he loved animals more. (We couldn’t be happier!) Jack has many elements in common with with Bill Boesenberg, our founder, including that he finds all types of creatures amazing! He has had many animals of his own including Carpet Pythons, Maklots pythons and a Frilled Lizard. Since he has knowledge of both fish and reptiles we set him up as a back-up to our Aquarist Erin Mellini, and he is already one of our primary reptile instructors.

A quote from Jack on the road he traveled to get here. “A girlfriend at the time got me a fish tank, which eventually got me heavily into the aquarium hobby. Later a position opened up at the chain pet store (Petsmart) she worked at. I was working at a 9-5 job and realized it wasn’t the life for me. After taking the position as a pet care associate, I started to heavily research all the animals in my care. This enhanced knowledge eventually got me noticed by another local mom and pop pet store who picked me up. Their amazing collection of animals eventually got me hooked on reptiles, where my interest slowly turned from my interest of unusual and oddball predatory fish, to the great world of snakes and lizards.
At my pet store, I was the one who would give tours of our facility to school groups, boy/girl scouts and after school programs. I would introduce them to many of our reptiles and other animals, and teach them about them. I enjoyed this very much, and relished the idea of making a living of entertaining people, while combining it with my love of education of reptiles and conservation.
This is quite literally, my dream job.“
Jack has created our first Snakes-N-Scales magic show, “Magic Reptile Birthday Party,” (now available to book) and he is also looking into a new idea involving an evolution-classification- craft show. Since we find he’s so talented we’re not going to waste them!

In his off hours he’s out hiking trails through 2 states, he’s a fan of comics and cartoons and animation of course, being an artist.
Blue generally works with Bill, and as jack’s face is showing you he’s not exactly “comfortable” with Blue either! This photo hit all the local papers and was a minor viral storm online.
