The African Bullfrog is one of the largest frogs on Earth. In it’s natural home it eats small animals including small turtles, fish, birds, mice, rats, frogs and even baby crocodiles!– The American Bullfrog has similar habits to it’s African cousin eating the same sorts of creatures, even baby Alligators.– Spadefoot Toads are under-dwellers, digging into the soil immediately and only surfacing if they are flooded out.– The Argentine Horned toad from South America is very like the bullfrogs. it has a giant sized mouth and a huge menu.

The Cane Toad is a pest in many places, like Australia, where people have transported it there to eat insects like grasshoppers. unfortunately the toads eat all small animals not just insects that eat crops.–The Spanish Ribbed Newt is a voracious predator of small insects but cannot harm humans and can be touched.–The Amphiuma is a salamander that looks like a snake and lives like a shark. it hides in the mud of Tennessee and Kentucky waiting for frogs or fish to get close. nearly blind it depends on small sensors that dot it’s head and neck. these can be seen on the monitor of our magnification video camera. the Amphiuma is Frog Birthday Party fav!

These 3 frogs are the most water loving of the group. The African Clawed Frog will eat its own weight in other frogs and fish in a single day, then not eat for weeks. In its home in Africa it sleeps in the mud for months waiting for the rains to bring back its pond.– The Surinam toad looks like a toad hit by a car! But it is supposed to look like that. It has no ability to walk on land, it can only swim along catching small fish with it’s hands that are turned permanently toward its mouth. A time saver, no doubt!– The Budgetts Frog is another similar, water only, frog however it isn’t happy with small fish. It has bones of its upper jaw growing into its mouth to help grab the mice, birds and frogs it eats.
