Though very scary to many people, the tarantula isn’t a dangerous animal. They are usually shy and won’t even stand their ground when upset, they run away!

The scorpions can be very dangerous to people, (though not the one we bring,) yet they do not scare people the way spiders do. They have the unpleasant habit of hiding in shoes!

The Ridgetail Monitor is smallest monitor alive today, looking like a baby or even a toy monitor!–The Bearded Dragon is one of the most common reptile pets due to it’s gentle nature and hardy appetite.

The Kenyan Sand Boa from Africa and the Desert Kingsnake from California show different ways snakes survive the desert.

The Sulcata Tortoise is an African desert tortoise that grows to be over 100 pounds. They are experts at eating plants no other animal can. Thorny, spiky, hard or as tough as a rope, the Sulcata eats them all!

This cool Desert Animals School Assembly program looks at animals of deserts in general, not one desert from a specific place. Instead of just bringing a bunch of random animals, this animal assembly looks at a specific place, the desert habitat.

We believe strongly that children should learn about animals and the role they play in nature. How they find food, where they live and what they each do to survive. We will also tell the animal’s story of how it came to us, it’s personality and why or why not you should want one!

Several of the animals are touchable and the finale of the assembly is a large sulcata desert tortoise that we will feed for all to watch.
