Snakes-N-Scales is always looking to serve
the school community with more attentive service,
reasonable prices and the best auditorium and
classroom programs anywhere!

Our prices for a single show are less than the cost
of renting a bus.
All secondary consecutive shows are discounted.
We serve the areas of New Jersey,
Southern New York state, New York City,
Long Island, Western Connecticut, Philadelphia
and Eastern Pennsylvania so our traveling is modest,
which is both greener and less expensive.

Everyone here has animal handling and/or teaching experience before they come to us. Each person must go through a training period with our owner, 26 years experienced, Herpetologist, Bill Boesenberg
to be sure that everyone can easily and safely handle
the animals that we use.
Our programs are diverse in topic,
educationally appropriate and a lot of fun.
We feel that just being amusing isn’t good enough
for a school show, there has to be

SCIENCE or HISTORY or LANGUAGE ARTS CONTENT.

This show brings the biggest reptiles in any show within 100 miles, truly our WOW show.

It also usually brings our herpetologist, and founder

Bill Boesenberg

himself to your event. The “WOW” can come from watching a nearly 100 lb America Alligator, “Blue,” sit in Bill’s lap, like a great black puppy; or from a 6 ft Water Monitor Lizard, “Elizardbeth,” hangout and sniff the air with her foot long tongue, while everyone laughs at the story of how she came to us; or you might be “Wowed” by getting to touch the gentle beautiful giant, “Hernia,” a 100 lb Burmese Python.

Our instructors, Bill or not, are experts at enthralling and informing all
interest and grade levels with a combination of humor, awe and compassion for creatures to which most people rarely get this close.

This is good large venue program where there will be lots of people, 300+ is not a problem.
This show needs a lot of space, no less than 12x8 ft just for us. Not including the audience.
Two six foot tables and a chair must be provided.
The animals and carriers combined weigh in excess of 300 lbs. therefore the show needs to take place on the first floor or an elevator must be available.

This is our most popular show.
Most of these animals can be touched under the watchful eyes of our instructor. We might bring lizards like a Bearded Dragon, or a Blue-Tongued Skink, or maybe a Leopard Gecko or a small Monitor Lizard; for turtles you might meet a Box Turtle, African Tortoise or a Red-foot Tortoise, (We have many water turtles as well, like Soft-shell and Snappers, but they can’t be touched.)
Representing the snakes we have all manner of Kingsnakes, Corn Snakes, Rat Snakes and Milksnakes.
The finale will be a big Boa Constrictor or an amazing Burmese Python. And as something only Snakes-N-Scales can bring to you, a baby American Alligator.
We'll talk about the specialties of each and what they eat,
joke about things they do and find out if these creatures
make good pets.

Nearly all of the several hundred Snakes-N-Scales
Reptiles, Amphibians, Bugs, Spiders, Fish and Invertebrates can be used in our programs.
We’ve got more traveling animals than several major zoos combined!

So if there is some creature you want to see please ask us!

It may include invertebrate animals such as the underwater strongman the Starfish, the peaceful but spiny Sea Urchins, the patient and still Sponge, the Red, White and Blue Patriot Crab, and the amazing Blue Lobster. Most of these are touchable and have no ability to hurt anyone.
Also included are several of the following fish, "the sharp bellied Clown Knife Fish, the weird, whiskered, Amazonian Arawana, the snake-like predator the Moray Eel, the freshwater bully, the Oscar or everyone’s favorite lost fish, the Clown Fish, just like in the movie!
(True fish are not touchable.)

This show will be presented over the course of an hour using our brand of jokes, stories and “animals’ eye views discussing what it’s like to live in the water, how these animals find food and avoid becoming food. This show will look at these incredible creatures in a fun hands-on, very interactive way to find the fun facts about these wonderful denizens of the deep and shallows.

YER DESSSPICABLE!!
ANACONDA, ALLIGATOR, MONITOR LIZARD, TARANTULA, SCORPION, SNAPPING TURTLE AND BURMESE PYTHON
These are the animals we love to hate. TV, movies, bedtime stories and even children’s nursery rhymes use these animals as monsters and villains, but are they really that bad? Movie monsters are almost always based on living creatures. The incredible effects of modern film make the
monster seem more real than the animals they were made from! Meet these and other
“reprehensible” creatures in your classroom and learn for yourself.

THE GOOD, THE ICKY AND THE SLIMY
Bugs and spiders, along with frogs and snakes, are thought to be “icky” by many people. But the amazing animals in this show will make you forget your discomfort! The Madagascar Hissing Cockroach of “Fear Factor” fame, is just a lot of air and really nothing to be afraid of. Tarantulas are actually hairy, peace loving creatures, scorpions glow in the dark, (Yes really!) Frogs swallow food with their eyes and toads are poisonous. And most amazing are the snakes, which have no eye lids, replaceable teeth, a skull with hinges, they live nearly everywhere, eat everything from deer to fish to alligators and have over 3000 species!

EXTINCTION IN THE TROPICAL RAIN FOREST
Travel in your mind with us, to the world’s shrinking  tropical rain forests and look at what is causing its creatures to become extinct. Meet reptiles and amphibians: like the oddly named Carpet Python, that lives in trees, not on the floor; the poisonous Cane Toad that is supposed to live someplace else; the bright and curious Water Monitor Lizard; and of course the big and beautiful Burmese Python. These animals are trying to survive the changes that we are producing in these amazing places. Education is the first step to the understanding of a problem, learn what we can all do to make this a better world and come be a part of the solution!

Reptiles are deep in our minds and our society to a
surprising degree. Think about all the stories of dragons,
the fables that include snakes, the terror struck, yet awed
accounts of crocodiles and it isn’t hard to see that these
scaly beasts hold a strange and special place
in out thinking and our culture.

Using live reptiles, maps, art and artifacts this program
looks at some of the roots of why humans have always
both feared and respected reptiles. The peoples of
Ancient Egypt, Rome, Polynesia, Medieval Europe and
the Modern West are touched upon.

5th grade and above please.
