Animal Themed Bar and Bat Mitzvah Party Entertainment
The only thing missing from most Animal Themed Bar and Bat Mitzvah Parties is, ironically, the ANIMALS!
It seemed to us the reason for this was 2 fold;
1. The people giving the party were worried about the animals ruining their party and
2. There wasn’t anyone offering animals in a way that introduced the animals appropriately and safely into the party. If you can solve the second, then the first goes away!
So welcome to Snakes-N-Scales Animal Themed Bar and Bat Mitzvah Party Entertainment Page!
We have the finest selection of traveling animals in NJ, southern NY and CT, and the immediate surrounding areas. Literally hundreds of animals to choose from including types of snakes, turtles, frogs, sharks, lizards, alligators, pythons, fish, salamanders, spiders and insects. Most of these animals are rescued from all kinds of unfortunate circumstances. We can accommodate requests for formal shows, a small display, a large display, photo taking, touching of the animals, walk around entertaining or any combination; held during the cocktail hour or throughout the party.
And we are completely at home talking to teens! No little kiddie talk from us!
Safety is our highest calling, but keeping everyone having a great time is a really close second!
Our Options for Animal Themed Bar and Bat Mitzvah Party
(Animals are below the Theme Options.)
Animal Photo Taking
This is the simplest and least expensive choice. Photo taking is what it says, no show, no discussions, just a hand full of animals (5) for pictures. The animals must always remain under our control, by law, so the guest can heft the back end of a python or pet the back of a lizard but we cannot hand the animal off to anyone. (No camera included.)
Themes for Shows and Displays
Shows and displays generally have themes, though they don’t have to. Themes can include: The Jungle or Rainforest, Desert Oasis, World Traveler, Undersea, Water World or Coral Reef, Dragons, Beneath the Earth, Reptiles and Amphibians, Zoo Keeper, South America or Asia, or any unifying theme idea you choose. Some animals, especially the fish, are only available for unifying aquatic themes. Please discuss your interests with Bill when you book.
This is an hour, audience seated, fun presentation with 10 animals. It is usually done during the cocktail hour but it can be done anytime. No photos are included here.

Live Animal Choices for Animal Themed Bar and Bat Mitzvah Party
As you browse below you will see each animal has information, both as a caption and more below the photo. The caption gives you a little natural history of the animal and below the photo will tell you the touch-ability and availability of the animal for each option and state, where needed. (Some snakes and lizards are forbidden in NY or outside NJ. (These are not our rules, but state laws. We must abide by them.)
American Alligators are truly amazing animals and we highly recommend taking one as a choice for your Animal Themed Bar and Bat Mitzvah Party. They are more like a cross between a dog and a lizard, than like their crocodile cousins. Gators have a wonderful success story; nearly wiped out in 1923 they now have a population of 1 million in the wild swamps and lakes of the southeastern US.
American Alligator– Available for all options but not touchable.
Albino Burmese Python-A gentle beauty that everyone can touch.—- Green Anaconda- A beauty that doesn’t have a gentle bone in its body! Normal Burmese Python–A “wild type” coloration is still a beautiful addition to any party. Their weight is impressive even for a medium sized one. They are calm snakes that allow strangers in when a house cat would object. These are the snakes now living in the Everglades and the cause of the new laws forbidding the transportation of these animals across state lines. Ironically and stupidly, the snakes in the Everglades are there due to a single accident, not the individual cross state transportation of pythons— Reticulated Python–is another Asian giant, though built around a somewhat leaner body plan, these pythons will kill leopards in the wild, but are no threat to your Animal Themed Bar and Bat Mitzvah Party.
Burmese Python-Available for all options and touchable. NJ only.
Reticulated Python-Available for all options but not touchable. NJ and PA only.

All three of these are herbivorous, all three are still considered common but all three are taken for food by local people and are still caught and sold everywhere for pets. We advocate the breeding of such animals to be used as pets, not their banning or continued wild capture.
Sulcata Tortoise, Red Foot Tortoise and Leopard Tortoise– Available for all options and touchable.
The Chinese Box Turtle isn’t related to the box turtles from North America but it has developed the same type of close-able shell defense.–the Ornate and Eastern Box Turtles were once common across the entire continent. Now, due to roads, homes and the taking of pets they are much reduced everywhere. Our specimens were pets that cannot be released for various reasons.
Chinese Box Turtle, Ornate Box Turtle and Eastern Box Turtle– Available for all options and touchable.
Truly the poster child for bad reputations is the Alligator Snapping Turtle and it’s more numerous cousin, the Common Snapping Turtle. Both of these turtle are maligned as viscous attackers of people, but nothing is further from the truth! FROGS AND TOADS
The Dumpy Tree Frog is an Aussy species that tolerates people well.– the African Clawed Frog is the most well known animal in the world!… Genetically. How often does a roach get invited to a Bar / Bat Mitzvah? Probably not very! But ours are Madagascar Hissing Roaches and aren’t interested in the usual roach pursuits. These insects cannot infest a home as they are very sensitive to cold, eat mostly fruit and breed much more slowly than the apartment haunts we worry about.–The Centipede is an astounding hunter. Armed with two venomous fore claws it takes on all comers, be they spiders, roaches, large beetles or even mantises and usually come out the victor. It has been postulated that if a centipede could grow to 8 feet in length it would be more powerful than a 40 ft T Rex and could take down a rhino!–Interesting discussions abound at our Animal Themed Bar and Bat Mitzvah Party!

Ironically, the Bird-Eating Spider rarely ever sees a bird, as it lives in shallow burrows in the soft tropical rainforest soil.
